FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short, direct answers. Where we do not know yet, we say so.
Is MRI in China a hospital or a clinic?
No. MRI in China is an independent coordination service. We arrange the appointment and the English translation of your report. The scan itself is performed, and the report written, by the staff of the hospital you attend.
Which scans can you arrange?
MRI, CT and PET-CT. Tell us the exam and the body area in your request. If you are not sure which exam your doctor asked for, send us the wording on your referral.
Can you tell me which scan I need?
No. Choosing an exam is a medical decision, and we do not give medical advice. The hospital decides whether an exam is appropriate. If you have a referral letter or earlier reports, mention that in your request so the hospital can confirm the right exam.
What do I take home after the scan?
Two things: your images as DICOM files, and the hospital radiologist’s report translated into English, together with the original Chinese report.
Will my doctor at home be able to open the images?
DICOM is the standard file format for medical images, so imaging software in other countries can open the files. Whether your own doctor relies on a report written abroad or asks for a local re-read is their decision.
Who writes the report?
A radiologist at the hospital where you are scanned. The English version is a translation of that report, not a second medical opinion. You always receive the original alongside it.
How much does an MRI cost in China?
It depends on the exam, the body area, whether contrast is used and the hospital. We send a written quote that lists every cost before you commit to anything.
To be confirmed: fee structure and example prices
How soon can I get an appointment?
It depends on the hospital and the exam. Your quote states the appointment date, so you know it before you book travel.
To be confirmed: typical lead time, from booking records
In which cities do you arrange scans?
We tell you the city and the hospital in your quote.
To be confirmed: list of cities
Do I need a visa to enter China?
Entry rules depend on your nationality and they change. Check the current rules with the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country before you book travel. We cannot give visa advice.
Is the contrast injection necessary?
Not always. The doctor who orders the exam decides whether contrast is needed. Tell the hospital about kidney disease, pregnancy and any earlier reaction to contrast.
Can I use this service in an emergency?
No. This is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. In mainland China the ambulance number is 120.
What happens to the information I send you?
The request form asks for contact details and the exam you want. Please do not send medical records or images through the form.
