Your quote names the hospital. This page explains how hospitals in China are graded, and what we look at when we suggest one.
How hospitals in China are graded
China classifies hospitals into three tiers: primary, secondary and tertiary. Tertiary hospitals are the highest tier. They are large referral centres with more than 500 beds, and they also teach and do research.
Each tier is divided into grades A, B and C. A tertiary hospital with grade A is written Grade 3A, in Chinese 三级甲等 or 三甲 for short. The grading is carried out by provincial health authorities.
A grade describes the size and scope of a hospital. It is not a ranking of quality, and it does not tell you which hospital is right for your exam.
What we look at
- Whether the radiology department performs the exam you were asked to have.
- Whether the hospital accepts international patients paying for themselves.
- The appointment date the hospital can offer.
- Whether the hospital releases images as DICOM files.
Hospitals we book with
We are an independent service. Booking with a hospital does not make us part of it, and we do not claim any hospital as a partner unless it has agreed to that in writing.
